Week 9

Rank (Δ)
School Comment
Tier: National Contenders
1 (0)

The entire team has been sick these past two weeks and Penix popped off against Stanford while in a hiatus. They're also undefeated.

2 (0)

Clear best performing team in the conference, but they still lost to UW

Tier: Upper Echelon of Cannibalism
3 (+4)

Least bad losses from Notre Dame and by 2 points from Utah. Poor performance against Cal, but they still won.

4 (+2)

Mississippi State aside, their only other losses were two top teams, and one of which was in double overtime. Arizona is a sleeper and is only getting better as the season goes on.

5 (-2)

They lost to Arizona and Washington State. At least they didn't get crushed - yet.

6 (-2)

Oregon absolutely demolished them. They also lost to Oregon State which keeps them at 6.

7 (-2)

Decent team. Struggling to beat the teams above them, but they are getting the job done when they need to.

Tier: Mid
8 (+1)

They've beaten the teams they were supposed to and lost to the ones they weren't. Also deserves a lot of credit for almost beating USC.

Tier: The bottom circle jerk
9 (-1)

They are on a 4 game losing streak and they lost to Arizona State. They do have some decent wins against Wisconsin and Oregon State, but still no excuse for this performance.

10 (+1)

Even though they lost to Stanford, they still have 2 wins over them and beat ASU.

11 (+1)

Their win against WSU looked better than Stanford's win against Colorado. Also, ASU only lost by 3 points to CU. I guess the desert voodoo is doing them some good here.

12 (-2)

Underwhelming. That dropped pass against Washington should not have happened. Goes to show why they are at the bottom.

This power ranking is so difficult outside of Washington, Oregon, and Cal. The teams keep beating each other in the most random of ways. Bottom teams are beating mid-tier teams and mid-tier teams are beating upper mid-tier teams. Half of these ranks could have probably been decided by a coin flip. Pac-12 cannibalism is nearing its peak.
